Hey guys,
Since my last blog post, my plans were to move to Mexico after my gf graduates, but after some last minute thoughts we decided that was not the best idea. Over the last month we have been debating on alternative countries such as Panama, Argentina, Netherlands, and even staying in Costa Rica. However, for a couple reasons we decided Vancouver, Canada is our best option. We plan to get set up there in a couple months. There are a couple downsides to Vancouver like cold weather and expensive cost of living, but overall looks like an amazing place to live and already have friends there. I’m extremely excited to make the move.

Downtown Vancouver

Yaletown, area we will likely move to.

As for poker, things couldn’t be going any better. About 6 months ago, I started playing HUSNG’s and have made pretty significant progress on my HU game. I have recently been mixing 6-9 man turbo SNG’s, HU hyper SNG’s, HU cash games, and some 6max hypers. It’s kind of like juggling trying to play so many different kinds of games but after practice I’m getting it down. I would also like to learn how to play HU PLO but basically have no experience. If any readers recommend videos/coaches for HU PlO or if any HU NL regs want to attempt to learn with me let me know

SNG results for 2012

HU cash results for 2012

Another thing I’ve been considering is reopening the spacegravy poker training center. For all of you unfamiliar with it, two years ago I started a training camp in Costa Rica where students in groups of 2-3 would come down for a week and learn how to make a living at SNG’s. I’ve always been convinced I can teach just about anyone to earn at least $5k-$10k a month from SNG’s and think with new addition of HU hyper SNG’s on Pokerstars, it has become even easier. I had tons of fun meeting and teaching players from all over the world. Most of them I still keep in touch with and are doing extremely well. I decided to take a break from coaching because I was just too busy but should have more time once I move to Canada. If there is enough interest I’ll most likely start it back up, so let me know.
Gl everyone,
Grayson

Hey guys,
I just got back from a trip to San Diego, Ca and Rosarito, Mexico. I have found myself in a predicament where I have to live out of the states to work and my gf has to live in the states to work. For this reason, we decided it would be best for me to live in Rosarito, Mexico and for her to live San Diego so we can visit each other easily. To make sure this plan would work, we went to the border and checked out the situation. San Diego was obviously a sick city and we really enjoyed ourselves there.

Our dream spot in San Diego

San Diego

San Diego zoo was awesome, picture of an orangutan

Rosarito was a chill beach town and can get an amazing ocean front condo for a good price. Driving through the border and Tijuana were a little sketchy, which was a downside. There were also surprisingly few Americans. I talked to a bunch of poker pros who have moved there (around 50 there so far) and they have all said that they enjoy it there and feel it is a safe place to live. So anyway, splitting time between San Diego and Rosarito is the plan for now and I will most likely move in July.

Condo bedroom in Rosarito, Mexico

Rosarito Beach

As far as the poker grind, I haven’t put in too much volume so far this year due to traveling, but have put out great results. I have recently been putting in a bunch of work on my heads up game. I must say that improving my headsup game has been by far the best thing I have done for my poker game. Now when I play any form of poker, it has given me an all around stronger game plan. I started off with HU hyper turbo sng’s and have recently started adding HU cash. I’ve been playing $3/6- $25/50 and have been crushing so far.

It’s pretty difficult playing HU cash, HU hypers, and 6-9 max sng’s at the same time, but I think I’m getting pretty good at it and my hourly rate is sky rocketing. I now have the next month to grind in Costa Rica and am excited to put in some volume.
Pokerstars is having a WBCOOP (World Blogger Championship of Online Poker) this year, which means anyone who blogs or tweets is eligible to win big cash prizes. The series is running from Feb 23rd-March 4th. For more info check it out here http://www.pokerstars.com/blog_tournament/.

Hey guys,
Thanks for checking out my new website! It’s still a work in progress but should have everything up shortly. Over the last month I have been traveling, going to PCA in the Bahamas, and just recently getting back to the grind online. After finishing up on grinding out Supernova Elite on Pokerstars last year, I decided to reward myself with a tour through Costa Rica with my gf. We visited Guanacaste, Arenal Volcano, Monteverde, and Manuel Antonio. Here are some of the pics we took:

Monte Verde cloud forest hanging bridge

Life and traveling has been amazing over the last month but unfortunately poker has not been the same. I started off the run bad stretch by taking a brutal bad beat in the $10k main event at PCA early in the tourney for top ten in chips. After PCA I came back to Costa to grind online and since then have been running pretty terrible.

If you look at the graph I should be up around $20k this year so far but am actually down around $6k. I use to get frustrated during downswings, but have finally learned to deal with it. Yea it sucks that I should have $26k more in my account than I actually do, but it doesn’t make a difference in my life whether it’s there or not and I know in the long run it will catch up.
This is my 4th year as a Supernova Elite and 3rd year representing Pokerstars as part of Team Online. Poker is staying exciting for me and can’t wait to put out amazing results this year. I think there are tons of great poker players out there, but very few who actually do a good job of maximizing their expectation from poker. This is for a number of reasons, but for me this is a business and is something I spend a lot of time thinking about.
Anyway, thanks again for checking out the new website. Check back for trip reports, SNG strategy posts, results, my life, and Pokerstars promotions. Also please give me feedback on what else you would like to see.
Good luck,
Grayson
